Division of Equity and Engagement

Equity Councils

At Fresno State, we are committed to fostering a campus community that values and embraces Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) in all aspects of university life. As part of this commitment, Dr. Rashanda Booker, our University Diversity Officer, has spearheaded the creation and relaunch of equity councils within the Division of Equity and Engagement.

The Division of Equity and Engagement Equity Councils serve as vital platforms for ensuring that the voices of all Fresno State constituents are heard in the ongoing efforts to scaffold and strengthen our new division. These councils bring together a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to provide valuable insights, perspectives, and recommendations on matters related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Applications for each council will open on Monday, March 4, 2024 and close on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Selected members will be announced on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Division of Equity and Engagement Spring Town Hall.

Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC)

The Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC) will provide space for students to recommend initiatives and share concerns that they feel should be prioritized by leadership. We believe that it is imperative for Fresno State Associated Students, Incorporated (ASI) to be a co-collaborator during the establishment, and the on-going implementation, of the SEAC.

Community Advisory Council (CAC)

The Community Advisory Council (CAC) will meet with the UDO quarterly to assist Fresno State in its mission to further incorporate the institution into the social fabric of our community, increase transparency and communication with key stakeholders, and work collaboratively to refine our institutional access for historically underserved groups. The CAC will help critically confront three key questions: how we share resources and support current and future Fresno State students, how can we develop a series of events that will welcome the community to campus, how do we involve our students in the culture of the greater region, and how do we promote Fresno State in the community.

All currently employed Fresno State faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to apply for consideration.
